Neptune - Francis Nursery and Primary School

 -The project -

Is the world a fair place? It is evident that while some people discuss a 5 percent decrease in economy in terms of a crisis, other people still lack fulfillment of their basic needs. In such a way that understanding the difference in standard of living is beyond a matter of information.

Still, some people seem to be able to cross incisible barriers of understanding and manage to transfer good intentions into reality. Some of the critical issues regarding how to avoid poverty can be:

  • local care for basic needs
  • local education
  • local support for small enterprizes
  • local control of recources

Unfortunately, a lot of the children in several areas of Africa have lost their parents. Many of them due to aids. At the same time, education is not available for those who don't have parents who can pay for it.

Most of the people who achieve a certain level of education, are leaving the villages and rural areas, seeking their opportunities in the cities. It takes more than a normal idealist to return back to the village trying to improve the conditions there.

In Kyamarebe, a new concept is formed. A boarding school for orphans and children whos parents cannot support them is under construction. The skills and willingness amongst local people is remarkable. This means that the project is in rapid progress.

  • Local craftsmen show more than average skills in construction and logistics
  • Local land owners support the school by selling land areas cheaper than market price
  • Higly skilled teachers stay in the village, despite higher wages in the cities

At the moment, the school has about 150 pupils. Eight class rooms are finished, as well as the office. The pupils are now offered hot meals at the school, which in fact give them a benefit compared to normal rural schools.

The only thing they need, is money. The so called developed countries have lots of people, whos conscentiousness tell us that payback is due. We simply owe the African countries a return for all the resources our countries have drawn from them.
